At the Fourth National Teaching Innovation Competition for University Teachers, Tongji University achieved its best results to date, securing one first prize and one third prize.
Guided by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, and organized by the China Association of Higher Education, the national finals of the Fourth National Teaching Innovation Competition for University Teachers took place in Chengdu from July 27 to 31. The competition aims to promote teaching innovation and cultivate top-tier talent. It features seven major categories based on the “Four New” initiatives (New Engineering, New Medical Sciences, New Agriculture, and New Liberal Arts), elementary courses, integrated moral education, and integration between industry and education. Except for the category of industry-education integration, each category is divided into three different levels: senior professional level, deputy senior professional level, and level of intermediate and below, totaling 18 subgroups.
Since the competition’s launch, over 100,000 teachers have participated as teams. After competitions in 32 zones, 483 courses advanced to the national finals held at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. The competition comprised two stages: online evaluation of classroom teaching videos and teaching innovation reports, and on-site presentations of teaching design innovations.
Sixteen teachers from the universities in Shanghai participated in the national finals, winning three first prizes. Associate Professor ZHOU Zhengyu from the School of Ocean and Earth Science won the first prize (deputy senior professional level) for integrated moral education.
